Coming from a family of potters in La Bisbal, the ceramic heartland of Catalonia, José had the privilege of being able to master the art of throwing very young. Later on, wishing to break away from the town’s ceramic traditions, he devised an ambitious research program which gave him the necessary knowledge to become one of Europe’s leading experts in capturing the elusive magic of crystalline glazes.

The fame of his work has led him all over Europe, as well as Australia, where his renowned demonstrations and workshops attract all those, both amateur and professional, who seek to emulate him.

José is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics as well as the National Council of Ceramic Arts in the USA.
