More sculptor than potter, Peter Beard works in stone and bronze as well as ceramics. Perfectionist in everything, the artist always designs every detail of a new piece before starting the making process. First a designer, then a maker following a predefined concept that nevertheless leaves more than enough room for modifications during the making process as well any haphazardous blessings that the firing may eventually bestow.
The result is a succession of delicately precise masterpieces of rare distinction. For more than twenty years, the artist has been considered internationally as one of the grand masters of contemporary ceramics. His exhibitions in Japan and China are seen as major cultural events and are regularly sold out immediately.
His work is to be found in many major public collections across the world.
