Presentation
Montserrat moved to France in 2004 and discovered her gift for working clay thanks to the astute guidance of her companion, Michel Moglia. After studying both literature and sociology at university, it was her interest in geology and particularly cave paintings which finally convinced her to become an artist. Her imagery is both primitive and sophisticated in that it draws on sources of inspiration which might have been either handed down over millennia or perhaps supplied by contemporary experience.
Standing before Montserrat’s clay painting bonded onto their steel mounts, we are aware of the frailty of our life on earth and our solitude in the star-lit void.
Montserrat lives and works in the Yonne.
