Louise GARDELLE

Louise was born and brought up in Sweden but has now been living in France with her husband, Michel Gardelle, for a long time. In looking at her drawings, with their flat zones of colour and the emphasis she lends her silhouettes, one discerns with delight the refreshing influence of Nordic graphic art.

Gay, lively and bearers of a certain touching innocence, her dishes and other decorated pots describe a peaceful world where unclothed but becoming bodies still maintain their modesty, where nature has yet to feel the menace of an industrial appetite. An ideal and probably inaccessible vision, except on a plate, as a poignant souvenir of what was once a dream.
