Cherryl’s delightful animal sculptures are a source of permanent enchantment. Her deliberately naive modeling takes us straight back to our own childhood when we also tried to people our juvenile landscape with a farmyard of Plasticine animals. Her beasties are a victory over those yearnings for sophistication which dog the world of art and at a personal level, bear witness to her own battle to maintain that sense of innocence which the weight of experience constantly whittles away.
Both gentle and genial, her comic menagerie receives increasing recognition.
