Couple of Spanish ceramists, Joan Serra and Mia Llauder both trained in Barcelona in the 1980s. These two artists explore personal universes independently of each other but also devote themselves to a common work that they present under the name of “Ceramica Ixio”. In very soft tones of turquoise blue, the artists work on the opposition of materials. The mixture of substances, at the end of cooking, produces a certain form of chaos in which the materials are sublimated while fracturing. The artists invite us to discover a game of contrasts in the shapes and materials, between the rounding and the sharp edges of the edges, between the grainy touch on one side and the smooth and polished on the other.
