Yo THOM

Yo was born in Tokyo. After her degree in English, she moved to the UK in 1996 to study ceramics. She obtained her MA in 2000, and worked as an apprentice for Lisa Hammond before establishing her own studio in 2004. Yo’s work is mainly wheel-thrown functional stoneware and one-off vessels. Their round and soft forms covered with grey and bluish glazes are the main characteristic of her work.

Her decoration has been much inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Japanese indigo dyeing. Her pots thus offer a unique blend of British craft traning and a delicate oriental spirit.
