Pep Gomez

Soon, it will be more than twenty years that Pep Gomez has been seen as one of the more original artists of the pottery community of La Borne. Back in Spain where he started his ceramic career, he was already seen as an excellent potter, but, like so many others, he found it impossible to earn a proper living and so was forced to choose the road to exile.

Once in France, his stoneware pots seem to have taken a wholly different dimension. Characterized by a deliciously free throwing technique as well as a form of decoration vigorously disrespectful of bourgeois conventions, the amateur finds himself faced by an array of robust tableware where winsome poetic contestation in cleverly turned into real ceramic wealth.
