Artist Profile
Mo JUPP
Presentation
Mo Jupp was one of the Mo most discreet and esteemed figures among the multitude of ceramists who so brilliantly illuminated the British cultural scene of the 1970s. He was a sculptor apart and a teacher adored by all those who had the good fortune to be taught by him. A wonderful draughtsman while still a student at the Royal College of Art, he concentrated all his energy on his sculptures depicting nudes, mainly those of women, in positions of rest.
Allying refined design, simple construction and painstaking finishing, his sculptures recall with delight a certain Modigliani. A joyful marriage of economy of means and stylistic purity.
Mo died in 2018. His works which are not already in museums, are extremely rare.
