Joan Carrillo’s pieces are of a level of perfection rarely achieved. By their large dimensions and the brilliance of their lustrous enamels with minute modulations, they far exceed the quality he has been able to obtain until now. These are works that mark a life and offer novice collectors a choice of founding pieces with sure values. These pots, with their shapes straight out of the 1950s, whisper a very fashionable past at the moment, while their sparkling surfaces evoke the glorious ceramics of the Hispano-Arab heritage, without the brush strokes. Joan Carrillo’s pieces are rare and precious because the quality of his enamels depends on a firing process that is particularly difficult to master with highly uncertain results. When unloading, a draconian sorting is therefore necessary.
