Both a renowned potter and admired teacher for more than thirty years, Duncan Ayscough has specialized in the production of a limited range of meditative forms whose sigillated surfaces are enhanced by being fired in a firmly closed saggar.

Expressing a formal rigour that matches the delicacy of their surfaces, these mysterious sculptures sometimes arbour rounded hollows or elegant bottlenecks, carpeted with gold leaf of an astonishing reflectivity.
