Deiniol WILLIAMS

Deiniol likes to say that his ceramic practice explores the opposition between rhythm and discord, balance and disorder. Bringing together raw and unrefined materials and incorporating them into his clay, he seeks a harmonious balance between the flowing action of the potter’s wheel and the deliberately disruptive inclusions which he has invited into his clay.

His production is divided between a range of sensual tableware where daily use can be seen as an enhanced tactile experience, and magnificent sculptural pieces where the ruptured surfaces plunge the viewer into the heartland of the wabi-sabi movement where imperfection is seen as a supplementary form of beauty.

The visual strength of these pieces makes them very difficult to resist!
