Sara MOORHOUSE

In the beginning, Sara Moorhouse composed rigorous abstractions on her pots inspired by the landscapes incessantly remodeled by the ballet of ploughshares, harrows and windrowers. These fields, with disciplined scratches and changing tones, lent themselves perfectly to her patterns of narrow bands of color where the natural order established the blue of the sky at the top of the cup, and those of the flowers and hay towards the base. This game of reconstructing the colorful countryside invited her to explore other perspectives, urban, coastal and even maritime so that her pots became a summary of what her gaze harvested. Her rigor and consistency have brought her international recognition and purchases from museums such as, most recently, the MOMA in New York.
