Artist Profile

Maria BOSCH

Presentation

Maria Bosch presents herself as one of the heiress of Antoni Tàpies’ palette and material, fortunately rid of the master’s obsessive iconography. For ten years, she has been creating large, superb sandstone pots, halfway between jars and stelae, with circumscribed areas of engraved edges on deeply stony backgrounds. Its wall plaques impress us with their intense minerality and their delicate graphics like parietal outlines of a people who have lost their rock landmarks. It is an art that embraces a personal past and draws inspiration from all the unspeakable of this stubborn people.
