Wouter DAM

Wouter Dam is Dutch but he is internationally recognized as one of the major figures whose work illustrates an approach to sculptural composition based, essentially, on the tradition of handcrafted pottery. His art is therefore a brilliant marriage between a demanding performance on the wheel and a delicate spatial elaboration of the carefully cut pot, where scrolls of ribbons are turned into delightful choreographic compositions. Wouter’s sculptures seem invested with a gestural capacity, stretching their arms in the air like dancers in search of a propitious contact, of a spatial encounter.
